Linux Operating System Commands

In the business world, Linux is considered as one of the most used Operating System (OS) that makes use of Linux Kernel. In the beginning, this OS has been used by individuals for their personal computers. After gaining popularity, it has made its way in the large corporation settings including HP and IBM. In the Philippines, Linux Training has been made available in order to produce quality candidates for the competitive computer industry.

Indeed, Linux Training is a necessity and has been in demand in the Philippines since most large businesses and companies have opt it for their operating system requirements. Linux is one good example of what an open-source technology should be, granting the source code free for public use.

There are several commands that one should familiarize since it would aid to better advancement using the Linux operating system. The following commands found below are truly valuable from the beginning to the final stages of the system.

In line with system file searching, almost all operating system has specific commands that would allow users to run a search function to find a particular file. For Linux, the task would include searching for the files on a disk using a certain parameters. One example is using the “l=’ls –l –color=auto”. This command would grant search through the entire listing in your file directory. But if you prefer to search the system by date of its creation or want the results listed in such format  it would require an “ls –lrt” and it would manage to search the entire directory as well.

Linux operating system also enables the use of the Internet. There are various networks tasks that one would be able to navigate such as those related to an Internet-based system. If one would require internet browsing, the “whois” command can provide the necessary information. This is also usable with an IP address. If you want to search for any available computer antenna signals, the command would be “iwlist scan”. The results will display all wireless network in range both covering secured and unsecured network access.

Another common command that you would learn from a Linux Training is the “smbtree” command. This belongs to the most used commands that would maximize the functions of Linux operating system. The “smbtree” command is used to search and provide a list of Windows machines and devices that are currently on the network. In order to view the operational architecture of the system, the “uname –a” would perform the task and determine the version of the Linux kernel that is being used.
